The crowd of 35,126 set a Kidd Brewer Stadium record, beating the mark of 34,658 set last year during Miami's visit to Boone. It's also a series record, as 33,400 was the largest crowd in the 22 previous meetings that were all in Winston-Salem. That happened in the 1987 game.

After Wake Forest's first drive of the game, App State's defense forced five consecutive three-and-outs. Those 15 plays netted a total of 17 yards. Wake Forest totaled one first down on its final six possessions of the half.
App State forced eight three-and-outs in 13 possessions by Wake Forest. The Mountaineers have forced 24 three-and-outs over 47 possessions through four games.

Eric Boggs (11 tackles) posted double-digit tackles for the 11th time in his career. He has a team-leading 34 tackles this season.
Taylor Lamb threw his 70th and 71st career touchdown passes in an App State uniform. Armanti Edwards set the App State career record with 74 touchdown passes from 2006-09.

With 372 passing yards, Lamb moved from third place to second place on App State's career list. Richie Williams is now third with 7,759 yards, and Lamb increased his career total to 8,043. Edwards totaled 10,392 from 2006-09.

With 386 total yards, Lamb moved from third place to second place on App State's career list for total yards. Williams had 9,370 from 2002-05, and Lamb increased his career total to 9,598. Edwards had 14,753.

Lamb ranks second among active FBS quarterbacks with no interceptions in his last 213 pass attempts. NC State's Ryan Finley is first with no interceptions in his last 224 attempts.

With a shovel pass to
T.J. Watkins for an 84-yard touchdown, Lamb posted App State's first pass of at least 80 yards since Richie Williams connected with Jermane Little for 88 yards against Eastern Kentucky in 2005. Lamb's previous long pass was a 68-yard touchdown to tight end
Collin Reed in a 54-7 win against Savannah State two weeks ago.

Watkins' reception was the seventh-longest in school history. It was also his first career touchdown.

Demetrius Taylor recorded his second career sack. He also had a sack against Savannah State.

Terrence Upshaw made his fifth career start. He started three times as a redshirt freshman in 2014, including the season opener at Michigan, and also started at Idaho in 2015. In that Idaho game,
Jalin Moore came off the bench to rush for 244 yards.

Desmond Franklin made his second career start. He also started the 2016 home opener against Old Dominion.

Thomas Hennigan had a 35-yard punt return in the first quarter. It was the Mountaineers' longest punt return since
Jaquil Capel had a 45-yard return in the 2016 season opener at Tennessee.
